Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has revealed what Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, told him following both sides’ World Cup Round of 32 clash earlier on Saturday.

Vozinha was impressive during the encounter at the Miami Stadium as he made several saves.

However, his team was unable to progress to the Round of 16 stage after Argentina won 3-2 after 120 minutes.

Speaking after the game, Vozinha revealed that Messi told him that he is a great goalkeeper and the people of Cape Verde should be proud of him.

“I went up to Messi after the game. He hugged me and said, ‘You are great. Your people should be proud of you.’ That was incredible for me,” Vozinha said (via Hindustan Times).

“Hearing words like that from someone like Leo Messi means a lot to me. I thanked him and said, ‘Thank you, Leo. You are the best.’ Then I asked if we could swap shirts. Leo said he would give it to me in the tunnel after the interviews,” the 40-year-old added.
