Nine persons traveling from Lagos to Abuja have been abducted by suspected herdsmen along lsua highway in Akoko South East area of Ondo State.

A family member of one of the victims, Bamidele Ojo, who confirmed this to Vanguard, said the victims were on board a Toyota Sienna space bus when they were ambushed by the suspected herdsmen.  The victims were allegedly marched into the forest by their abductors after their vehicle was stopped on the highway.

Bamidele said the abductors have reached out to the families of the abducted travelers and are demanding N100 million ransom.

Spokesperson of the Ondo state police command, Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident and said one of the victims has been rescued. Ikoro said police detectives in the state were working with hunters, local vigilante, and other agencies to ensure the release of the remaining eight victims.
