Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi has revealed what he passed through at Arsenal before leaving the club.

The Nigeria international said his family played a major role to help him stay sane after the criticisms he got from Arsenal fans.

Iwobi, a product of Arsenal academy, left the club for Everton in the summer of 2019 for £35m on a five-year deal.

“When I played for Arsenal, a lot of people questioned my abilities. The criticisms were just too much,” the midfielder, who is now a regular at Everton, told Premier League Productions.

Iwobi hailed his father particularly for always being there for him and making him understand the challenges of playing for a big club like Arsenal.

“But I had my family who stood behind me. My dad kept telling me that I am at such a big club for a reason and I should keep working hard. He was instrumental in me overcoming such harsh feedback,” he added.

The Nigerian midfielder said he has now grown to accept the fact that critics will always be there and has decided to go out there and try and put in his best.
