Despite having one of the best strikers in the world in their ranks, English Premier League giants, Manchester City are eyeing a move for Nigeria international Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen is enjoying one of the best moments of his career with Napoli this season as he currently tops the Italian Serie A scorers chart with 19 goals, five more than Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, who is in second position with 14 goals.
The former Lille man’s fantastic form in front of goal is one of the reasons Luciano Spalleti’s side are league leaders, 18 points more than second-place Inter Milan and are on course to winning the Italian league title for the first time in over three decades.
The Super Eagles forward has three years left in his contract at the Stadio Amando Maradona, but following a decent campaign so far, a number of European clubs have been linked with securing his services in the summer, with Manchester United one of the favourites to land the striker.
Napoli have on several occasions insisted that the Nigerian is not for sal, but that has not stopped top European clubs from making inquiries about the players.
However, according to recent claims by transfer guru, Florian Plettenberg, the Premier League champions have also joined in the race for the Eagles striker, despite having Erling Haaland and Julián Álvarez in their ranks.
“Been told City, #CFC, #PSG & #MUFC are all in! Different talks took place. #MCFC inquired, although they have Haaland/Alvarez. No topic for Bayern. A transfer fee of at least €100 million is not feasible,” he wrote on Twitter.
Osimhen’s impressive form earned him the league’s best player of the month for January, while he was named the winner of the Serie A Goal of The Month Award for his stunning Pele-like goal against Roma in the same month.
