A 39-year-old man, Anthony Okafor, has been arraigned before the Ogba Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State, for allegedly stealing N7,900,000 owned by a company, Chemarome West Africa Limited, in the Ojodu Berger area of the state.
Anthony, who was arraigned before Magistrate O.A Ogunjobi, is facing one-count bordering on stealing preferred against him by the police.
The police prosecutor, John Christopher, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in the Ojodu Berger area of the state.
According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The charge read,
“That you, Anthony Okafor, sometime in November 2022, to March 2023, at No 2B, Babatunde Ladiga Street, Omole Phase 1, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did unlawfully steal N7,900,000, property of Chemarome West Africa Ltd, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
Magistrate O.A Ogunjobi granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till April 20, 2023, for mention.
