Super Eagles striker Alex Iwobi is reportedly set to sign a new long-term Everton contract after a breakthrough in talks.
Negotiations between the midfielder, 26, and the club opened a number of weeks ago with the player mulling over his options ahead of the summer, when he enters the final year of his current agreement.
But Iwobi, 26, has now decided to accept Everton’s offer of a new contract and is set to soon put pen to paper according to Football Insider.
It is a huge boost for the Merseysiders given how crucial Iwobi has become to the team this season.
The former Arsenal man has been considering his options with his situation monitored by Premier League teams as well as clubs around Europe.
The Nigeria International’s decision to stay will go down well among Everton fans with the club locked in a relegation battle.
This comes soon after the club confirmed prize asset Jordan Pickford had signed a new long term contract.
Iwobi has made 128 appearances for the Merseyside club and has been a key figure this season with starts in all 28 of their Premier League matches.
The club have keen to secure the market value of a player they consider to be just as crucial under Sean Dyche as predecessor Frank Lampard.
