Kwara State Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq reportedly asked the House of Assembly to confirm Justice Abiodun Adebara as the substantive Chief Justice (CJ).
Adebara had since early this year been acting as the CJ following the retirement of his predecessor, Justice Sulyman Kawu.
The governor’s letter, addressed to the Speaker, Yakubu Salihu, was read on the floor of the house during yesterday’s plenary.
He said Justice Adebara is being considered as a substantive Chief Judge sequel to his recommendation by the National Judicial Council in line with Section 271, Subsection 1 of the 1999 Constitution.
The Speaker accordingly directed Justice Adebara to appear before the assembly today for screening and confirmation as the substantive Chief Judge.
The screening will take place on the floor of the house beginning at 10am.
The Speaker also directed the nominee to submit 35 copies of his credentials to the office of the Clerk before close of work on Tuesday (yesterday).
Governor AbdulRazaq has also submitted a list of five nominees for screening and confirmation as chairman and members of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission.
The nominees are Abubakar Uthman, chairman; Mrs. Oyedun Funke Juliana, member; Alhaji Yusuf Abdulganiyu Aremu, member and Abdul Gana Lukpada, member.
