Grammy award-winning singers, Burna Boy and Tems have received several nomination in the 2023 edition of the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.
The Port Harcourt-born Afrofusion artiste was nominated for four awards in different categories.
In the battle for ‘Best Male R&B/Pop Artist’, Burna Boy will square off against other global acts like Chris Brown, Drake, Usher and The Weekend.
For his contribution on the visual interpretation of the massive hit track “Last Last,” Burna would also compete against Asap Rocky, Dave Free & Kendrick Lamar, Director X, and others in the “Video Director of the Year” category.
‘Last Last’ also earned the 31-year-old ‘African giant’ two additional nominations for ‘Best International Act’ and ‘Viewers’ Choice’.
With three nominations, including one for ‘Best Female R&B/Pop Artiste’, Tems closely followed Burna Boy.
Her input into the song ‘Wait for You’, which is up for ‘Best Collaboration’ and ‘Viewers’ Choice’ awards, has earned her two joint nominations with Future and Drake.
Asake and Ayra Starr each received one nomination. Ayra Starr will compete against Burna Boy in the ‘Best International Act’ category, while Asake will compete in the viewers’ choice category for the ‘Best New International Act’.
