The Police Command in Sokoto State on Tuesday charged parents to remain vigilant and watch over their wards during the Sallah celebrations.

Mr Ali Kaigama, the Police Commissioner in the state gave the advice in a statement issued to newsmen by ASP Ahmad Rufai, the command Acting Spokesman.

Kaigama said the command had adopted proactive measures, deployed adequate personnel, and working with other security agencies to ensure peaceful celebration.

“Sequel to the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration, all Area Commanders, DPOs and other Tactical Commanders have been directed to adopt proactive measures.

“This is through effective intelligence gathering, and raids of blackspots within their areas of responsibility, to ensure seamless and peaceful Sallah celebration.

“I have also approved and directed the mobilization of operational assets such as Anti-riot water canon to be on Red Alert,” he said.

The commissioner of police said apart from the deployment of personnel and patrol vehicles, the command and the Army would search vehicles coming in and out of the state.

Kaigama urged residents to remain law abiding and report any suspicious movement through: 07068848035, for prompt response.
