President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will guarantee a good position for women in his government, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Women Leader Betta Edu has said.
According to her, the sign of what will come for women is appointment of four women among the 10 special advisers, so far appointed by the President.
Dr. Edu spoke in Abuja after receiving the federal government’s award of Excellence in leadership for gender inclusion and women empowerment.
The award is a collaboration between the National Centre for Women Development headed by Hon Asabe Vilita Bashir, and the Ministry of Women Affairs in Abuja.
The awardee, a former commissioner for Health in Cross River State, has beyond expectations held together the womenfolk of the ruling party. She has also championed the cause of empowering women, children, and other vulnerable groups.
The award also acknowledged her spectacular role in mobilizing Nigerians to vote for President Bola Tinubu in the last general elections.
Wife of Vice President Kashim Shettima, Hajia Nana, led dignitaries including wives of governors, as well as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs Hon. Munilola.
Speaking further, Dr. Edu said;
“I am very elated and excited to be so honoured. This is a testimony to the fact that all we have been doing for the party, All Progressives Party (APC) and for the youth and women in general are being noticed.
“I thank the DG of the Women centre and the ministry of women affairs for putting this together. I thank my President, the Jagaban himself, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the Vice President’s wife. I thank all my friends who have stood by me, and all the Nigerian women who believe in us and the party.
“This is a call for more work and service and I promise to give my all to the service of this country at any capacity that I am called to serve.”
