Half of the popular highlife band, ‘The Cavemen’ Kingsley Okorie has revealed why he dumbed law despite being certified to pursue music professionally.
He said music has always been his first love, adding that after Law school he decided to do music professionally with his brother, Benjamin instead of practicing as a lawyer.
He made this known while featuring on the latest episode of The Nancy Isime Show alongside his brother and bandmate, Benjamin Okorie.
Benjamin said, unlike his brother, he refused to go to the university and instead went to a music school.
“Kingsley went to the university, I refused to go to the university. I went to a music school, studied music for two years. Then we now came back together.”
Kingsley inferred,
“After law school, I came back to the house and I told my brother, ‘Yo, in law school while I was going to a civil litigation class, I thought about it cause I was in Kano, I’m away from Lagos and Abuja where I would get gigs, so I think I’m in a cave. I think I’m a caveman.’ And my brother was like, yeah that is the name.”
Benjamin added,
“I have been playing the drum since I was 2. I failed WAEC, I told my mum that I want to go to the music school and she said okay. The firstborn Kingsley is pursuing his law career as being the firstborn so there was no pressure on me which was perfect to do what I really love. And that is what we are using to feed the family now”.
