The Oyo State House of Assembly on Wednesday screened and approved Wasilat Adegoke and Oluwaserimi Ajetumobi as commissioners-designate.
The approval followed an earlier request by Governor Seyi Makinde on Tuesday, September 5, seeking the Assembly’s legislative approval for the duo as part of the ongoing composition of the state executive council.
The state assembly conducted the screening and gave the approval at its Wednesday, September 6, plenary.
The addition of the two commissioners to the governor’s cabinet takes the tally to 18 having sworn in 16 commissioners earlier in July.
While fielding questions from lawmakers during the screening, Adegoke, expressing gratitude to the governor said so much has been achieved in the area of youth development and provision of sporting facilities expressing her desire to key into the governor’s vision.
The commissioner’s designates were not however subjected to serious grilling as the leader of the House, Sanjo Adedoyin in his remark noted that Governor Makinde could not be wrong with his nomination having proved his ability to hunt for talents.
He urged the house to grant the duo the privilege of taking a bow and leaving the chamber.
The speaker of the House, Adebo Ogundoyin in his remarks noted that the duo were not subjected to rigorous grilling because they were coming on board afresh adding that the House would give them few months to settle into their offices.
He hinted that they would be invited afterwards to provide situation reports in their respective ministries. The house however directed the duo to take a bow and go.
