The police in Taraba have confirmed the electrocution and death of four family members consisting of father, mother and two children.
A press statement by the command’s spokesman, Abdullahi Usman stated that the victims include, Raymond Ofonbok, 44 years old, Mrs Mfonobong Raymond, Heaven Raymond, 15 years and First Raymond, 13 years old.
He said,
“On 2/9/2023 at about 11OO hrs, information received from a reliable source, revealed that a house located in the Dinyavoh area of Jalingo is on fire.
“Detectives from the GRA Division of the Taraba command were deployed to the scene. On arrival, it was discovered that a family of four were found lying with burns all over their bodies suspected to be electrocution.”
According to him, information had it that the transformer in the area blew up when power was restored causing the fire incident in several houses.
“The detectives evacuated the victims to FMC Jalingo for treatment. They were confirmed dead by the medical doctor at the FMC.”
He said the corpses have been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy and investigation as to the “real cause of the incident.”
