President Bola Tinubu has sympathised with the Canadian government over a fire incident that claimed two lives and left two others severely injured in its High Commission offices in Abuja.
Reports claimed that the fire, which started from a diesel explosion in the High Commission’s generator house on Monday morning, occurred during a repair work on the generator.
However, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu assured the High Commission of Nigeria’s support for its staff, who were affected by the incident.
The statement said,
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sympathizes with the Canadian government, the diplomatic community, and all persons affected by a fire incident which occurred on Monday at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja.
“The President assures the Canadian authorities of the full support of the Nigerian government in the aid of diplomatic and local staff of the High Commission who were particularly affected by the incident.
“President Tinubu prays for the repose of the departed souls and wishes all injured persons a rapid and full recovery.”
