Manchester United are ready to step up their interest in signing former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori with the player valued at around €40 million (£34m).
Man United’s defensive options are currently limited with key centre-backs Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez currently injured.
Raphael Varane returned to the Red Devils’ starting XI for their 1-0 defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League in mid-week but the Frenchman faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford.
However, Man United would consider selling Varane in the January transfer window, with Bayern Munich and Saudi Arabia two potential destinations.
Should the 30-year-old Frenchman leave Ten Hag’s side, Man United will likely move to bring in a replacement, with Tomori said to be high up on their wishlist, according to Italian outlet MilanWeb.
Tomori, who currently plays for AC Milan, has been impressive for the Serie A giants.
The England star joined Milan in 2021 from Chelsea and has made over 100 appearances for them in all competitions.
