Flying Eagles captain, Daniel Bameyi, is optimistic the team have what it takes to win the title at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Aliyu Zubairu’s side started their campaign on a disappointing note going down 1-0 to Norway.
Nigeria, however, bounced back in their second game, edging past Saudi Arabia 3-2.
Bameyi scored the winning goal from the penalty spot in stoppage time.
The defender believed they could take inspiration from the victory, and go home with the title.
” I’m happy we got the three points after losing the first game,” the centre-back told FIFA.com.
“Nothing is impossible in football.
“It’s a tournament that my country hasn’t managed to win yet, and I think we’ve got the quality in our squad to do what it takes.”
The Flying Eagles will take on Colombia in their last group game on Monday.
They need a win to advance into the knockout round of the competition.
