Flying Eagles head coach, Aliyu Zubairu is optimistic his side will secure a place at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup at the expense of Argentina.

The seven-time African champions will face Argentina in a Round of 16 fixture in Santiago on Wednesday night (today).

It will be the third-ever meeting between both countries at this level.

Argentina defeated Nigeria 2-1 in the final of the 2005 edition.

The Flying Eagles came out victorious in their Round of 16 tie two years ago.

Argentina are the overwhelming favourites to win this time around having won all their three group games.

Zubairu, however, said he will come out with a winning strategy that will neutralise their opponent.

“We have seen Argentina, we have seen their strengths, and we will try to neutralise them,” Zubairu said in his pre-match press conference.

“We have been able to pick out their deficiencies, and we are going to work on that. On Wednesday, we’ll take advantage of what we’ve observed and, hopefully, we win the game.”
