The head coach of Benin Republic, Gernot Rohr, has picked out four key players in Nigeria’s squad ahead of their decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Uyo next week.

Rohr’s men beat Rwanda 1-0 on Friday, to stay top of Group C ahead of the last round of fixtures.

However, the group remains open with South Africa and Nigeria still capable of qualifying for next year’s tournament.

Rohr is very familiar with the Super Eagles, as he took the three-time African champions to the 2018 edition of the World Cup.

“Playing against (Victor) Osimhen, (Ademola) Lookman, (Moses) Simon, (Alex) Iwobi.

“That’s another story. This result builds confidence,” Rohr told reporters.

A win for Benin will automatically secure their qualification regardless of results elsewhere, but anything less could open the door for South Africa or Nigeria to overtake them.
