Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, on Tuesday, made history after leading his team to a 2-2 draw against Hungary in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Recall that Attila Szalai silenced Lisbon by heading home the opener, but Ronaldo tapped in crosses from full-backs Nelson Semedo and Nuno Mendes to swing Roberto Martinez’s side ahead.

The woodwork also denied Bruno Fernandes and Ruben Dias from scoring against Hungary during the encounter.

Dominik Szoboszlai struck late to deny Portugal a victory at home.

The result means Hungary is now five points behind leaders, Portugal on the log.

Ronaldo’s brace for Portugal against Hungary means the Al Nassr forward has now surpassed former Guatemala player Carlos Ruiz’s record of the top scorer in the history of the World Cup qualifiers.

Ronaldo now has 41 goals in the 50 World Cup qualifiers he has played so far.
