The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man identified as Sufiyanu Aliyu, of Gwanyal Village, Tangaza LGA, for the alleged culpable homicide of his wife, Suwaiba Abubakar Bawa, aged 15 at about 7.30pm on October 27.
A statement from the command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufai, says preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, Sufiyanu Aliyu, engaged in a serious misunderstanding with his wife, which escalated tragically. Allegedly, Aliyu used a knife to inflict fatal injuries on the victim, leading to her death.
‘’Upon receiving the report, police operatives were immediately dispatched to the scene. The scene was visited, processed, and cordoned off for forensic analysis. The suspect was apprehended at the scene, and a knife, believed to be the weapon used in the commission of the crime, was recovered as an exhibit.” the statement read
The police imagemaker said the victim’s body was evacuated to a hospital, where a medical doctor officially confirmed her de@th.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime.
