Operatives of Osun Amotekun Corps have arrested 27-year-old man, Adekunle Obideyi, for stealing cocoa, banana and other farm produce.

Obideyi, who is an indigene of Erinmo-Ijesa, in Osun State, was apprehended after stealing agricultural produce from a farm in the community and absconding with them.

Briefing journalists on Monday, December 2, 2024, in Osogbo, Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Isaac Omoyele said the suspect was arrested following a tip off.

“Amotekun operatives swiftly acted on the information, tracking down and capturing Obideyi in his hideout in Erinmo-Ijesa,” he said.

“During preliminary questioning, the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted that this was not his first involvement in such illegal activities.”

Omoyele said the suspect revealed that he would often steal cocoa and bananas from farms and sell them to interested buyers.

He explained that the suspect was apprehended after committing the theft and attempting to hide in an uncompleted building, where he was eventually caught.

He disclosed that the suspect had been transferred to the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, for further investigation and interrogation.

The Corps Commander while urging residents of the state to remain vigilant and security-conscious in their communities encouraged them to report any suspicious activities or security breaches to the Amotekun Corps or other relevant security agencies for swift intervention.
