Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo, has acknowledged the presence of fraudsters both within the church and across society at large.
The cleric made this known while recounting an encounter involving an alleged impersonator during a recent mid-week service. According to Oyedepo, the individual falsely claimed to be him and attempted to extort money from unsuspecting victims.
Oyedepo explained that the fraudster was eventually exposed after one of the victims tried to verify the claim. He noted that his images and identity are frequently used for fraudulent activities, warning members to remain vigilant and committed to truth.
Sharing the experience, Oyedepo said the impersonator claimed to be him and demanded something from a victim. When the matter was questioned, the fraudster insisted on speaking directly with him, only to be confronted and exposed.
He further emphasized that fraud is not limited to a single space, noting that such individuals can be found in churches, markets, schools, and other areas of society.
Oyedepo urged his congregation to walk in truth and exercise discernment, stressing that doing so would help them avoid falling prey to scams.
