The spokesperson of the Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, October 21, 2024, said Modu, of Morami village in Jakana, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, was arrested by the police operatives ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Damaturu.

“On October 20, 2024, at about 1830 hours, ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Damaturu, received credible intelligence regarding a suspected gunrunner en route to Damaturu,” the statement read.

“Swift action led to the interception of a Golf 3 saloon car, and a thorough search revealed 350 rounds of live 7.62×39 MM ammunition concealed in the suspect’s luggage.

“The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation as investigators work to unravel the criminal network and motives behind the trafficking.”

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating crime and urged community members to sustain their cooperation with security agencies.

“The public is advised to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, persons, or objects to the nearest police station or security formation. If you see something, Say something,” he added.
