A 65-year-old man, Danladi Wari, who was arrested for r@p!ng a 9-year-old girl in Adamawa State, has blamed the victim for seducing him.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, in a statement on Sunday, May 28, 2023, disclosed that the suspect was apprehended following a complaint by the girl’s family member.
The suspect, who hails from Gangaraso in Jada Local Government Area of the state, was arrested from his residence on May 23 and confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Wari, a tailor and cobbler, allegedly lured the minor into his room and had sexual intercourse with her.
He, however claimed the minor got him into having carnal knowledge of her by touching him seductively and followed him into his room.
According to the PPRO, the man also claimed that the girl demanded N200 from him which he did not give her, but sewed for free some clothes she had brought to him.
Nguroje said the Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, had ordered for discreet investigation into the matter and assured that assured that the man would be prosecuted according to the dictates of the law.
