Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has slammed Chelsea’s summer signing Marc Cucurella, saying the Spanish player is not good enough.
He wondered why the Blues spent over £60 million to sign the player from Brighton in the summer.
The Frenchman said the Spaniard should be nowhere near Chelsea’s starting eleven
The Spanish left-back joined the Blues from Brighton in the summer in a deal that could reach £62million.
He has since then struggled to live up to that price tag, with his form not helped by Chelsea’s inconsistent performances.
He has been a constant feature in the Blues lineup due to injuries to Ben Chilwell and Reece James.
Leboeuf told ESPN, “Reece James and Chilwell are going to go back into fitness asap because we need them, because we don’t want to see Cucurella anymore.
“The player is not good enough for Chelsea. It’s as simple as that.
“It’s crazy that they signed him for £60m or £70m, but we can see that he does not belong to that level.”
