Shahida, the daughter of the 14th Emir of Kano State, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, has hailed the emergence of Abba Yusuf as the Kano governor-elect.
Her father was deposed on 9th March 2020 by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led administration.
After Sanusi was deposed on allegations bordering on insubordination, he was “banished” by Ganduje to Awe in Nasarawa State, an action that the Federal High Court in Abuja declared as illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional.
The Independent National Electoral Commission announced Yusuf, the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
According to the results declared by the Returning Officer for the Kano State Governorship election, Professor Ahmed Ibrahim, the NNPP candidate polled 1,019,602 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 890,705 votes.
Taking to her Instagram on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, Shahida recalled how the present administration ‘cheapened and sold’ the Kano emirate.
“Now if someone that actually deserves that seat sits on it, even if it’s not MSH (her father), we will say Alhamdulilah. We just want our emirate to be what it deserves to be,” the mother of three added.
“And if Allah’s decree it should be MSH, Alhamdulilah! I want for Kano this type of leadership. We deserve it. We have produced great people. It would be amazing to benefit from them,” she added.
