Former Premier League star, Andy Townsend, has blasted Manchester United and manager, Erik ten Hag for making Bruno Fernandes their captain.
Townsend believes that the Portuguese midfielder is ‘not captain’s material’.
According to him, while many believe that the Portugal international is a talented player, “his antics and behaviour on the pitch when things aren’t going right mean he can’t be compared to Roy Keane, Bryan Robson and other legendary United skippers of the past.”
“I don’t think he’s captain material!”
“Too many times people are given the armband just to keep them at the club.”
Erik ten Hag had recently stripped Harry Maguire of the Red Devil’s captain armband and handed it to Bruno Fernandes.
