Angeles Bejar, the mother of Luis Rubiales has landed in a hospital after going 50 hours without eating.
The Spanish Football Federation president’s mother has been on hunger strike inside a church in protest of what she believes is ‘inhumane’ treatment of her son.
Bejar, a retired hairdresser, locked herself in Divina Pastora de Motril, Granada, since Monday morning and refused to go home.
A priest, Father Antonio, said on Wednesday evening that the woman has been hospitalised after going 50 hours without eating and drinking.
She was only taking water to take her medication.
“She had not been feeling well because of the heat and everything else,” he told the Spanish media, who had gathered outside the church.
“Her feet had become swollen and she was very tired. She had also become very nervous.”
