The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the promotion of 4,851 personnel and officers across various ranks and cadres.
The NIS Public Relations Officer Adedotun Aridegbe was among those promoted to the rank of Comptroller of Immigration.
The NIS Comptroller General, Mrs. Wura-Ola Adepoju, who announced the promotion, said the personnel had participated in the 2023 promotion.
The comptroller general said the promotion details were approved and conveyed through a letter from the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board, chaired by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
She made the announcement at the service’s headquarters in Abuja while decorating the newly promoted Assistant Comptrollers General and Comptrollers of Immigration.
The breakdown of the promotion showed that a total of 18 Comptrollers of Immigration got promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptrollers General of Immigration, while 51 Deputy Comptrollers were promoted to the rank of Comptrollers of Immigration.
Also, 43 Assistant Comptrollers of Immigration were promoted to the rank of Deputy Comptrollers of Immigration and 520 Chief Superintendents of Immigration were promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller of Immigration.
The breakdown also showed that 634 Superintendents of Immigration were moved to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Immigration and 426 Deputy Superintendents of Immigration got promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Immigration.
Also, 1,366 Assistant Superintendents of Immigration are now Deputy Superintendents, 804 Assistant Superintendents of Immigration got promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Immigration, and over 900 Inspectors of Immigration were promoted to Assistant Superintendents of Immigration.
Mrs. Adepoju expressed gratitude to Dr. Tunji-Ojo for his unwavering commitment to staff motivation.
She urged the newly promoted officers to rededicate themselves to the service and show unwavering loyalty to authorities.
