Mexican professional boxer, Canelo Alvarez, has explained why he apologized to Lionel Messi after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Alvarez had an outburst on social media with Messi after accusing the Inter Miami captain of disrespecting the Mexican national flag following Argentina’s World Cup 2-0 win over Mexico.
But he later apologized to Messi, who was seen kicking a Mexico jersey in the dressing room after the game, for his comments.
However, Alvarez has now explained in detail why he decided to apologize to the former Barcelona captain as he accepted his mistake yet again.
“You have to admit when you are wrong. It doesn’t make you better or worse. You have to admit when you make a mistake,” Alvarez told Univision Fresno (via Express).
“The euphoria of supporting the Mexican team at the moment and to see them losing like that….Well obviously, you don’t put too much thought into your actions. But you have to recognize when you mess up and that is it.”
