A notorious Haitian gang stormed a police station in the country and slaughtered dozens of police officers, according to reports.

Reports are emerging that members of a gang led by the infamous warlord Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier attacked a police station in Gressier, Port-au-Prince, and killed at least 20 officers.

The assault is believed to have begun on Sunday, June 30.

Haiti Libre said the attack was carried out by members of the “Vivre Ensemble” gang coalition led by “Barbecue”. Other reports stated that the Bougoy Gang were involved.

As far as the assault on the police station is concered, reports stated that a “musculat counter-offensive” from police saw several gang members killed.

Haiti Libre stated that Bougoy leader Ti Bébé Bougoy, who had boasted the day before the attack of being stronger than the police forces, was captured.

It had been reported that the bandits were using “heavy machinery” to destroy the police station. This has reportedly been seized by authorities.

In June 2022 it was reported that the gang had been rounding up homeless and at-risk teens, to use as foot soldiers in gang wars.
