Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara who is currently in a running battle with his predecessor and current Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.

The political crisis has polarised the Rivers House of Assembly with one faction loyal to Wike and another supporting Fubara.

The PDP Governor’s Forum voiced their solidarity for the Rivers governor in a communiqué issued at the end of their meeting in Enugu on Wednesday, July 17.

“The Forum notes the crises in the Rivers State Chapter of the party and commits to ensuring peace. The Forum has resolved to stand by His Excellency, Sir Sim Fubara, Governor of Rivers State,” the communiqué reads.

The governors said “wider consultations” with stakeholders should be deployed for a peaceful resolution to find a “lasting” solution to the political crisis in the south-south state.
