A 54-year-old businesswoman, Debbi Olakunbi Adene, was reportedly hacked to d8ath in her residence by some unknown assailants five days after her birthday in Ondo State.

It was gathered that the lifeless body of the woman, a popular caterer in the state and CEO of Country Kitchen and Event, was discovered on her bed on Sunday, July 28, 2024, in her residence at Oda Road, Akure.

A source who pleaded anonymity, told the State-owned newspaper, The Hope Metro, that the deceased, a mother of two was hale and hearty with no sign of illness a few days before she was k!lled.

Her lifeless body was found in a pool of blood with no trace of her k!llers.

“Five days ago, she marked her 54th birthday, during which she entertained visitors in her residence and served assorted wine and drinks,” the source explained.

“The deceased, who was a social media enthusiast, posted many of her pictures on Facebook, while there were several comments from family and friends, congratulating her, only to find her dead, some days after.”

The deceased’s husband, Dele Adene described the news of his wife’s demise as a rude shock.

”I was told that my wife’s corpse was found on her bed in a pool of blood which showed she was hacked to d*ath,” he said.

“I cannot believe that no arrests have been made up till the moment of talking to you. I feel suspects should have been arrested

“Her phone should be tracked and I don’t know how dwellers in the building did not know such a thing happened in a house with four flats.”

Also speaking, the deceased’s daughter, Tejumade said it was the caretaker of the house where her mother lived, that called to inform her that she was found dead in a pool of blood.

“I came back from the church and was trying her line, but it was switched off. I later received a call from my mother’s brother who called to inform me that my mother had been k!lled,” she said.

The remains of the deceased had been deposited at the mortuary in Akure.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, July 30.

“I am aware of the incident, and an investigation is currently ongoing,” she said
