Former Rivers State Governor and current Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, has expressed strong discontent with the current state of affairs in Nigeria, urging citizens to protest against the government over widespread hunger and economic hardship.

Amaechi, who was speaking on the nation’s growing struggles, argued that elections should not have been held given the dire situation many Nigerians face. “People should be angry and protest against politicians. They should also say elections shouldn’t be held because the rate of hunger now is high. If people like us can’t afford diesel, then imagine how other people are,” he said.

Citing the recently concluded election in Edo State, Amaechi criticized the timing of such political processes amidst national suffering. “What happened in Edo shouldn’t have taken place, elections shouldn’t have been held,” he added.
