Man badly burnt while attempting to vandalize transformer cables in Niger state

A 22-year-old man, Tasiu Danlami, sustained a severe burn injury while attempting to vandalise AEDC transformer cables in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, October 14, 2024, said Tasiu and another suspect, Abba Salisu, had attempted to vandalize cables in the community, leading to his injury.

“On 10/10/2024 at about 0545hrs, Police operatives of Tafa Div with vigilante members, while on routine patrol within Hayin-Nasarawa area along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway via Tafa, arrested two suspects identified as; Tasiu Danlami 22yrs and Abba Salisu 18yrs of the same area,” the statement read.

“The two suspects attempted to vandalize AEDC transformer cables within the community, which led to severe burn injury of Tasiu.

“He was taken to Musa Yar’Adua Hospital Sabon-Wuse for treatment, while Abba was taken into custody with an industrial cutting plier.

“Suspects are under further investigation in Tafa Division.”
