Former Newcastle United goalkeeper, Shay Given, appears to have changed his mind about the Premier League title race.

Given had picked Liverpool to retain their crown before the season started, tipping Arsenal to finish as runners-up for the fourth year in a row,

He then said Manchester City and Chelsea would make up the top-four.

But Given has been impressed by Arsenal’s displays so far season and believes “this is their opportunity”.

Mikel Arteta’s men thrashed Nottingham Forest 3-0 on Saturday, to go top of the table for a couple of hours at least.

Analyzing the game on BBC’s Match of the Day, Given said: “Look at Arsenal’s strength in depth now, this is probably the strongest squad Mikel Arteta has had.

“This is their opportunity, I feel, to win the Premier League.

“Arteta’s built a really strong squad and he must believe and they must believe this is their year if they keep the majority of the squad fit.”
