Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, has named Barcelona midfielder, Pedri as his ‘new favourite footballer’.

The former England international stated this following Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League 2-1 win against Newcastle United on Thursday.

Recall that a brace from Marcus Rashford gave the Spanish LaLiga champions the victory against the Premeir League club.

Anthony Gordon did score a late goal for Eddie Howe’s men at St James’ Park.

During the encounter, the likes of Pedri, alongside team-mate Frenkie de Jong controlled Barcelona’s midfield against the hosts throughout the duration of the game.

However, Scholes was impressed by the performance of the Spain international.

The Englishman posted on his Instagram story: “Pedri my new favorite footballer,” alongside a love emoji.

Pedri will now hope to continue his impressive display for Hansi Flick’s side when they face Getafe in the LaLiga on this weekend.
