Armed gunmen have k!lled a police orderly, Corporal Salisu Shamaki, and abducted three officers in Agbonran, Ifelodun Local Council of Kwara State.
Shamaki, who was previously attached to a Chinese miner in the area, was k!lled during the attack on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
The Chinese miner escaped unhurt, while the whereabouts of the three abducted policemen remain unknown.
The incident comes amid a series of violent raids by armed bandits in Ifelodun, which have led to killings, abductions, and looting of property in recent weeks.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has ordered the mobilisation of the state’s security apparatus to the affected area.
In addition, the Nigerian Army’s Sobi Barracks in Ilorin has approved a forward operational base to counter the activities of the bandits.
Stakeholders, including political leaders, community groups, and cultural organisations, are collaborating with local vigilantes and security agencies to restore peace and protect residents in the area.
