Celebrity barman Cubana Chief Priest has reflected on a painful regret his failure to fulfill his late mother’s dream of seeing him become a Catholic priest.
Sharing an emotional post on Instagram, he recounted how his mother prayed for years before conceiving. She first gave birth to his elder brother Onyinyechukwu, meaning “Gift from God,” and later to him after a complicated pregnancy, naming him Chibuike, which translates to “God is my strength.” She had vowed that one of her children would serve God and hoped he would enter the priesthood. Despite his efforts to gain admission into the seminary, he never became a Catholic priest.
“Next year will make it 10 years since I lost my mom, and everyone who knows my story can testify that my life changed after she went to heaven. Every day I live with the guilt that I disappointed my mama by not becoming a priest. She wanted to be called Mama Father, but instead, I became the ChiefPriest,” he wrote.
Chief Priest added that even though he didn’t follow her wish, he believes he is still “doing God’s work.” He revealed that he has recorded a Catholic thanksgiving song to honor her and to thank God for blessings like family, fame, friends, wealth, and music.
“But fact remains that I’m still doing God’s work. I had to do this thanksgiving Catholic Christian song to honor my late mom & also thank God for the numerous blessings that have come my way,” he explained.
He further disclosed that the song, which features rapper Zoro and is produced by Masterkraft, will be released after the post reaches 1,000 comments.
