Former Super Eagles midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has claimed Ruben Amorim cannot fix Manchester United’s problems.
Mikel Obi, speaking on his podcast, also said it was “stupidity” for Amorim to stick to a tactical system that doesn’t work.
Despite spending around €200million on new attackers, United have struggled to impress this season.
The Red Devils have only won two of their first six league fixtures, losing three.
They were also eliminated from the Carabao Cup by fourth-tier club, Grimsby Town.
The calls for Amorim to ditch his preferred 3-4-3 tactical setup have increased in recent weeks.
“The problem is way too much for him to deal with, he can’t fix the problem. His energy is affecting the players,” Mikel Obi said.
“His refusal to even change his lineup is not stubbornness, it is stupidity. Top managers adapt, look at Pep Guardiola for example.
“Now, when teams come to play Manchester United, they know how to prepare. When Manchester United are losing, he needs to switch things, change formation.”
