A carpenter, Ahmed Toheed, has been brought before an Akure Magistrate’s Court sitting in Oke-Eda, for allegedly r@ping and k!lling his 64-year old grandmother, Mulikat Sanni, in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Toheed was said to have committed the offences on September 29, 2025, around 10 p.m., at Onisere Street, in Ore.
According to the police, the suspect r@ped and k!lled his own sexagenarian grandmother, after he accused her of witchcraft and being behind his string of bad luck.
The police arraigned Toheed before Magistrate Olateju Odenusi- Fadeyi, and charged him with r@pe and m8rder.
Police prosecutor, Augustine Omhenimhen, told the court that the defendant allegedly overpowered the elderly woman, strangled her, and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
The charge reads, “That you, Ahmed Toheed ‘m’, on September 29, 2025, at about 10pm, at Onisere Street, Ore, in the Ondo State Magisterial District, did unlawfully strangle one Mulikat Sanni ‘f’ aged 64 years to d3ath and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 316 and Punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
“That you, Ahmed Toheed ‘m’, on the same date, time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully have carnal knowledge of one Mulikat Sanni ‘f’ aged 64 years and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 357 and Punishable under Section 358 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Due to the capital nature of the offence, the court did not take the defendant’s plea.
The prosecutor, Omhenimhen urged the court to remand the defendant pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Defence counsel, Benjamin Adeyanju, prayed the court for an adjournment to file a counter-affidavit.
Magistrate Odenusi-Fadeyi, ordered the remand of the defendant at the State CID and adjourned the case to October 13, for further hearing.
