Reality TV star and entrepreneur, Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has shared the reason she decided to stage her Guinness World Record attempt for the most makeovers done in 24 hours in Lagos, Nigeria, instead of the United Kingdom.

Record-breaking streak and emotional dedicationTwo years of planning and unwavering determination

During a brief conversation with influencer Egungun at her Tacha Beauty Festival in Lagos, Tacha said the decision was driven by her desire to promote Nigeria’s creative potential.

According to her, the goal was not just to break a record but also to highlight the vibrancy and skill of the Nigerian beauty industry.

She explained that although the original plan was to hold the attempt in London with sponsorship offers from international brands, she ultimately chose to do it in her home country. “London won’t give me the vibe I want,” she said. “It always makes sense to carry your country along.”

Record-breaking streak and emotional dedication

Tacha began her 24-hour Guinness World Record attempt on Saturday night, targeting 150 makeovers within the timeframe.

By Sunday morning, she had already completed 115 makeovers in just 12 hours, surpassing the previous record of 113 within 24 hours.

The attempt, part of the three-day Tacha Beauty Festival, running from October 10 to 12, celebrates beauty, culture, and resilience.

Despite facing short power interruptions during the session, she maintained her pace and continued with her team’s efficiency and precision.

She dedicated the record-breaking effort to her late mother, noting that her passion and drive were inspired by her mother’s influence and the lessons she instilled in her.

Two years of planning and unwavering determination

Revealing that the project had been in the works for two years, Tacha described the timing of the event as perfect. She said that patience, preparation, and vision were key to making the dream a reality.

Tacha emphasised that hosting the event in Nigeria was a deliberate move to change global perceptions and showcase the nation’s untapped creative power. “At this point now, I’m putting the Nigerian beauty industry on a freaking global map,” she said excitedly.

The media personality expressed pride in being able to inspire other Nigerian creatives to think globally while staying rooted locally, calling her attempt “a statement of confidence in Nigeria’s talent and resilience.”
