Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (also known as Winners Chapel), has expressed heartfelt gratitude to God as construction work on the massive 100,000-seater Ark auditorium approaches completion.
In a video making the rounds online, the respected cleric could be seen joyfully singing and praising God while celebrating the progress of the multi-billion-naira project, which he described as a clear demonstration of divine grace and unwavering commitment.
Situated in Ota, Ogun State, the Ark is poised to become one of the world’s largest church auditoriums. The facility is designed to host tens of thousands of worshippers and will feature state-of-the-art amenities aimed at advancing global evangelism.
The project has generated mixed reactions across social media, with Nigerians sharing varying opinions on its significance.
While many congratulated Bishop Oyedepo and members of the Living Faith Church for their faith and perseverance, others questioned the relevance of such a grand project amid the nation’s economic difficulties.
One online user remarked, “Just one tithe and offering from this church could surpass the yearly budget of an entire state,” while another commented, “They can build huge auditoriums, but not industries. When it comes to productivity and accountability, everything changes.”
Some critics argued that the vast resources devoted to the construction could have been invested in more impactful sectors such as education, healthcare, or job creation.
“Erecting such a massive structure isn’t what Nigeria needs right now. Those funds could be used to improve lives in other ways,” a concerned citizen wrote.
Another observer added, “Our problem is misplaced priorities. Instead of more church buildings, religious leaders should focus on developing productive institutions that can truly benefit society.”
