Nigeria’s Afrobeats stars have taken center stage once again as the 2026 Grammy Awards nominations were unveiled on Friday evening, with Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Omah Lay all earning recognition.

The announcement underscores the continued global rise of Nigerian music and its powerful influence on the world stage.

In the Best African Music Performance category, Davido and Omah Lay received a joint nomination for “With You,” marking Omah Lay’s first-ever Grammy nod. They are joined by Burna Boy’s “Love,” Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s “Gimme Dat,” Eddy Kenzo & Mehran Matin’s “Hope & Love,” and Tyla’s “PUSH 2 START.”

Burna Boy, already a Grammy winner, also secured a nomination for Best Global Music Album with “No Sign of Weakness,” competing alongside Youssou N’Dour, Anoushka Shankar, Shakti, Siddhant Bhatia, and Caetano Veloso & Maria Bethânia.

The nominations have sparked celebration across Africa, with fans praising the recognition of Nigerian artists whose creativity and influence continue to shape global soundscapes.

As anticipation builds ahead of the awards ceremony, the 2026 Grammys are set to be a landmark moment for Afrobeats showcasing how far Nigerian music has come and how deeply it resonates worldwide.
