Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has dismissed reports that manager Antonio Conte is set to resign from his position.
The speculation arose following Napoli’s recent 2–0 Serie A defeat to Bologna over the weekend, with claims suggesting that Conte was ready to step down as head coach of the Serie A champions.
Speaking on the matter, De Laurentiis labelled the reports as false.
It’s a fake story. I am proud to have a man like Conte next to me, the club and the squad,” De Laurentiis said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“He is a guarantee for our club, our players and our fans.”
Conte led Napoli to the Serie A title in his first season at the club.
However, this season, Conte’s side are currently fourth in the Serie A table, behind Roma, AC Milan and Inter Milan, after 11 matches.
