Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, is set to undergo an urgent MRI scan after sustaining a hamstring injury.
Recall that Osimhen picked up a hamstring injury during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff final against DR Congo on Sunday night.
The former Napoli man picked up the injury in the first half at the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium.
He was substituted at halftime, with Sevilla striker Akor Adams replacing him.
Osimhen’s absence was strongly felt as DR Congo took control of the game, eventually beating the Super Eagles of Nigeria 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.
The victory secured the Leopards’ place in the intercontinental playoffs next year as Nigeria failed to qualify for another World Cup tournament, having missed the previous edition in Qatar.
However, according to a report from Sports Digitale, Galatasaray’s medical team will conduct a thorough assessment of Osimhen in Istanbul ahead of Galatasaray’s clash with Gençlerbirliği on Saturday.
Osimhen will undergo an MRI scan upon his arrival in Turkey to assess the severity of his hamstring injury and establish a recovery plan.
The 26-year-old has been impressive for Galatasaray so far this season in all competitions.
