The five police officers who were k!lled in an ambush by herdsmen in Bauchi State have been laid to rest.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, led his men to the funeral of the gallant officers in Bauchi on Monday, November 24, 2025.

The spokesperson of the Bauchi State Police Command, CSP Ahmed Wakil, said the incident occurred in Sabon Sara village in Darazo Local Government Area of the state on November 22, when combined police tactical units, acting on intelligence, embarked on a visibility patrol to prevent and manage farmer-herder conflict around the Sabon Sara axis.

According to Wakil, the officers were ambushed by “unidentified Fulani youths” during the operation.

The PPRO said upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Auwalu Ilu, led a team of reinforcements to the scene, rescued and evacuated both the injured and deceased personnel to the General Hospital in Darazo for medical treatment, and deposited remains of the deceased at the morgue.

Intense efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the perpetrators within and around the area; meanwhile, the Command is fully committed to ensuring that the criminals responsible for this heinous act are brought to justice,” he added.
