Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has explained that she apologised to her senior colleague, Afeez Owo, because she considers herself a true promoter of cultural values.
Newsunplug earlier reported that Wumi had publicly called out Afeez in September after he commented on her personality during an interview on the African A-List podcast.
In the interview, Afeez claimed that Wumi’s movie roles reflect her real-life personality, describing her as someone whose “comfort zone is violence.” He further stated that Wumi reacts strongly when pushed because she does not tolerate nonsense.
Wumi responded by slamming him on Instagram, labelling the interview “rubbish” and questioning why every disagreement must be turned into podcast content.
However, the pair recently settled their differences at the movie premiere of fellow actor Odunlade Adekola. A viral video showed Wumi approaching Afeez, kneeling to apologise, and saying, “I’m sorry, sir. Please forgive me.” Although Afeez initially tried to avoid the moment, he eventually lifted her up and embraced her.
In a post shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Wumi said she chose peace, stressing that elders deserve respect even during moments of anger.
She wrote, “I chose to apologise to our legend because I am a true ambassador of culture, and even in anger, our elders should be off-limits. Our elders deserve calm waters, not raised voices. To our fans and friends, no more grudges I have chosen peace.
“Thank you for your forgiving self @officialafeezowo_fanspage @officialafeezowo.”
