Reality TV personalities Leo DaSilva and Nina Ivy recently voiced their disbelief over the soaring prices of short-let apartments across Lagos, particularly in Victoria Island, Ikoyi, and Lekki.
Leo shared screenshots from a well-known booking site showing an apartment in VI listed at a staggering $9,350 (over ₦14 million) for an 11-night stay.
He summed up the situation with one line:
“Nothing is funnier than the prices of VI and Ikoyi apartments this December.”
Leo suggested that many apartment owners assume the December influx of visitors guarantees fully booked calendars. However, with major hotels rolling out attractive holiday deals, he believes these landlords may be overestimating demand.
According to him, travellers will likely turn to hotels instead, forcing short-let owners to slash their rates eventually.
Shortly after Leo’s comments circulated online, fellow BBNaija alum Nina shared her own frustration.
With the December festive rush drawing near, Lagos has slipped back into its famously pricey “Detty December” mode and this year, the costs seem to have hit an entirely new level.
Nothing is funnier than the prices of VI and Ikoyi Appartments this December.
I know some of you think it will be a sure thing but you see Hotels? They will get more bookings this December and you will have to reduce your prices.
