Former Arsenal player, Martin Keown has suggested that Gabriel Jesus has put himself in a good position to become the club’s main No.9 over Viktor Gyokeres.
According to Keown, the Brazilian’s movement helped Arsenal to beat Wolves 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.
Jesus did well after he came on from the bench against Wolves, while Gyokeres struggled at the Emirates.
I think it’s Jesus’ movement that ultimately helps,” Keown told TNT Sports while speaking about Arsenal’s winner.
“The defender gets unlucky and Jesus doesn’t get the touch, but it’s his run and movement that helps, and that is definitely food for thought for the manager.
“He looked good when he came on, and Gyokeres is still not at the fitness level you would expect, and there’s a real tussle for who is going to be that No.9 and Jesus has put himself right back in there.”
Jesus and Gyokeres will hope to do well when Mikel Arteta’s side takes on Everton in their next game.
